The Third Street Light Rail Project established rail service along the Bayshore Corridor. This $648M Third Street Light Rail Transit Project consisted of a 5.4 mile extension with 18 stations of the Muni Metro light rail system, beginning north near the Caltrain station at 4th and King Streets, and running south along 4th St., Owens St., 3rd St. and Bayshore Boulevard to an intermodal terminal adjacent to the Caltrain Bayshore Station near Bayshore Boulevard east of Sunnydale Avenue.
This project also includes the construction of Muni Metro East Facility - MME (a new light rail maintenance, operations, storage, and office facility), passenger stations, ticket vending machines, tracks, bridge structures, overhead catenaries system (OCS), and system signalization. In addition, this project required the reconstruction and landscaping of Third Street, utility relocation and the seismic retrofit of the 4th Street Bridge. |
Summit Associates provided inspection, master scheduling/claims support, cost estimating, office engineering, document controls and administrative/database support services for this light rail project. |
